J. Haislip, A. Crain, D. Foster, M. Nysewander, and
A. LaCluyze, University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill, on behalf of the CHASE project, report the discovery
of an apparent supernova (mag approximately 17.3) on
an unfiltered image taken on 2010 Dec. 31.33 UT with
the 0.41-m 'PROMPT 4' telescope located at Cerro Tololo.
The new object, which is also present at mag approximately
17.3 in images taken on 2010 Dec. 26.30 and 2011 Jan.
2.27, is located at R.A. = 13h19m42s.89 +/- 0".2, Decl.
= -33°15'18".5 +/- 0".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is about
1".2 east and 4".9 north of the center of the presumed
host galaxy. Nothing is visible at this position on
a stack of thirty-one 40-s archival images taken between
2009 June 2.14 and 2010 July 28.08 (limiting mag 21.0).
