report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag approximately
17.2 +/- 0.3) on an R-band image taken on Apr. 28.33 UT with
the 0.41-m 'PROMPT 4' telescope located at Cerro Tololo. The
new object, which is also present in an image taken on Apr.
29.32 at mag approximately 16.6 +/- 0.2, is located at R.A.
= 22h10m09s.27 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -36°05'42".6 +/-
0".1 (equinox 2000), which is about 9".2 west and
23".8 south of the center of the galaxy IC 5169. Nothing
