with the 0.41-m 'PROMPT 4' telescope located at Cerro Tololo.
The new object, which was confirmed in an unfiltered image taken
on June 11.97 at mag approximately 15.9 +/- 0.2, is located
at R.A. = 16h56m53s.05 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -65°57'18".9
+/- 0".1 (equinox 2000), which is about 40".5 west
and 8".2 south of the center of the galaxy ESO 101-18.
Nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken
on June 3.17 (limiting mag 18.5) and 7.13 (limiting mag 17.5).
