Antezana, L. Gonzalez, P. Gonzalez, P. Lopez, S. Silva, G.
Folatelli, D. Iturra, R. Cartier, F. Forster, S. Marchi, and

and D. Reichart, K. Ivarsen, J. Haislip, A. Crain, D. Foster,
M. Nysewander, and A. LaCluyze, University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill, on behalf of the CHASE project, report the
discovery of an apparent supernova (mag approximately 16.3
+/- 0.3) on an R-band image taken on Aug. 27.02 UT with the
0.41-m 'PROMPT 4' telescope located at Cerro Tololo. The new
object, which is also present in an image taken on Aug. 31.00
at mag approximately 16.2, is located at R.A. = 19h57m48s.68
+/- 0".1, Decl. = -31°48'35".4 +/- 0".1 (equinox
2000.0), which is about 4".2 west and 2".9 north
of the center of the galaxy NGC 6841. Nothing is visible at
this position on archival images taken on Aug. 21.11 (limiting
mag 18.5) and July 12.08 (limiting mag 18.0).
