J. Maza, M. Hamuy, R. Antezana, L. Gonzalez, P. Gonzalez, P. Lopez, S. Silva, G. Folatelli, D. Iturra, R. Cartier, F. Forster, S. Marchi, and A. Rojas, Universidad de Chile; G. Pignata, Universidad Andres Bello; B. Conuel, Wesleyan University; and D. Reichart, K. Ivarsen, J. Haislip, A. Crain, D. Foster, M. Nysewander, and A. LaCluyze, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, on behalf of the CHASE project, report the discovery of an apparent supernova (mag approximately 17.9 +/- 0.4) on an unfiltered image taken on Nov. 23.08 UT with the 0.41-m 'PROMPT 4' telescope located at Cerro Tololo. The new object, which is also present at mag approximately 18.0 in an image taken on Nov. 24.06, is located at R.A. = 4h14m52s.54 +/- 0".1, Decl. = -62°50'14".8 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0); two galaxies of low surface brightness are located close to the position of 2009lq. Nothing is visible at the position of 2009lq in an archival image taken on Nov. 18.17 (limiting mag 18.5) and in a stack of seventeen 40-s archival images taken with the same instrument between Jan. 12.11 and Sept. 21.38 (limiting mag 20.0).
